Location/Lodging

We will be working in and around New Braunfels, TX and Canyon Lake just West of New Braunfels. We will be working at multiple different field sites in and around that area, If you are looking for lodging, New Braunfels, TX will be your best bet. 

The location for the first day will be provided to registrants the week before class. 

  • Only Use this option if prompted to do so by Origin Rigging Staff. A Coupon Code will be Required

  • Pre-requisites for this class include:
    -Sound understanding of Rope Technician level skills
    -Ascending and Descending rope
    -Anchor building
    -System building (including 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, 5:1, lowering systems, and belay systems)
    -Physical Fitness allowing for efficient movement on rope and the ability to perform strenuous work in remote environments.
    -Ability to tie high-quality knots (figure 8 family, bowline, water knot, and butterfly).

  • I will be at class on time every morning (8AM unless otherwise directed). I am committed to longer class hours, understanding that on any given day will run well past 5PM.

  • Cancelation Policy:

    100% Refund if you cancel within 5-days of registering (unless after the dates below)

    75% refund if you cancel greater than 60-days before the class starts

    50% refund if you cancel greater than 30-days before the class starts

    No Refunds if you cancel with less than 30-day before the class starts.

    If for any reason Origin Rigging has to cancel a program you will receive a full refund. In the event of cancellation, Origin Rigging will notify all registrants as early as possible, but assumes no liability for expenses incurred by the registrant (travel, lodging, etc). Programs will not be canceled due to weather. Participants should be ready for any and all field conditions and are responsible for their own protection from weather.

  • Required Equipment:

    -Rescue Helmet that is in Date (within 10-years)
    -Gloves
    -Closed Toed Shoes/boots that provide support in rugged terrain
    -Harness (full body Rope Access style recommended)
    -Auto-locking Personal Descender (e.g. Sirius, Spark, ID, Rig, Clutch)
    -Ascending system (Frog recommended)
    -4-carabiners (Oval Auto-locking preferred)
    -Whistle
    -Food and Water containers to sustain 9-hours in the field.
    -Inclement weather gear (rain, cold, hot; be ready for mother natures furry)
    -Personal pack that will contain all your personal items taken into the field
    -Note Taking Material
    -Positive Attitude, dedicated and focused on learning

    Recommended Equipment:

    -Anchor Slings (in-date, >22kN ) (e.g. Texora Black Mamba, Petzl Anneau, Sterling AnCORE, or similar)
    -Petzl Rollclip A Non-locker (we strongly discourage Rollclip with locking gates)
    -Petzl Grillion
    -Petzl ASAP
    -Personal Swivel Pulley
    -Eye-to-eye Prusik (we strongly only recommend BlueWater VT Prusiks)
    -Small packable chair
    -Personal first aid kit and hygiene items (toilet paper, sun block, lip balm, butt powder, etc)
    -Sunhat/brim that fits your helmet
